FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I use, clean, swap batteries, and refill quip Kids Sonic?

Watch our how-to videos to learn all about brushing and maintaining quip Kids Sonic.

Can kids use the original quip Sonic Electric Toothbrush?

Yes! The differences between the original and the kids plastic brush is a slightly smaller brush head with fewer bristles to make it easier to go tooth by tooth on smaller teeth, and a slim handle that's a little easier to grip. Both brushes are safe for kids and adults, so it really comes down to your personal preference.

How does quip compare to a manual or electric toothbrush?

quip Kids combines the low cost, light weight, and simplicity of a manual brush with the guiding features and fresh feel of an electric. Positives we share with many electrics are soft nylon bristles, sensitive vibrations, 2-minute built-in timer, and 30-second pulses. Improvements we made are a longer 3-month battery life, better value (from $25), and affordable brush heads. We also ditched the extra modes, wires, and clunky chargers you don’t need to make quip perfect for every day, everywhere.

How is quip Kids powered?

quip Kids is powered by the same regular or rechargeable batteries as other electric brushes (AAA in our case). The difference with quip is its removable AAA battery that lasts for up to 3 months. Other electrics with locked-in batteries may force you to keep a useless brush even if they stop working, or simply add expense with a separate charging stand. But remember, the efficacy of your toothbrush isn’t defined by power itself, but by how well you follow a proper brushing routine.

What’s different between the adult and kids sonic toothbrush?

quip Kids has a smaller brush head with fewer bristles — perfect for smaller mouths and growing smiles. It’s designed for kids, but some adults prefer it too, especially for reaching tight spots.

What ages is the quip Kids Sonic Electric Toothbrush suitable for?

Kids can start using an electric toothbrush at age 3, with adult supervision recommended until age 8. Individual child preferences and professionals recommendations may apply. Electric toothbrushes have been shown to help disrupt the biofilm, spread paste, and help remove plaque effectively. As a parent, it’s essential to be part of this daily oral care routine, and to provide ongoing instructions and demonstrations as your child is building dexterity and proper brushing habits. Lead by example, and you’ll be one big brushing family in no time.

What are the toothpaste ingredients?

quip anticavity toothpastes use the right amount of fluoride to help keep your mouth healthy and cavity-free. There’s naturally-occuring xylitol to inhibit the growth of cavity-causing bacteria, and silica which is even more gentle on your teeth. Plus, it’s SLS-free (sodium lauryl sulfate). Active ingredient: Sodium Fluoride 0.24% (0.14% w/v fluoride ion). Inactive ingredients: Water, Sorbitol, Hydrated Silica, Glycerin, Xylitol, Flavor, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Sodium Saccharin, Carrageenan, Titanium Dioxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Menthol.

How much toothpaste should my child use?

The American Dental Association recommends using a smear of toothpaste (no larger than a grain of rice) for kids ages 2 and under, and a pea-sized amount for ages 3 and older.

Are sonic toothbrushes good for kids?

Yes, sonic toothbrushes, like quip’s Kids Sonic Toothbrush, are excellent for children. The gentle vibrations effectively remove plaque while being safe for young teeth and gums. With a smaller brush head and soft bristles, the Kids Sonic Toothbrush is designed to fit comfortably in a child’s mouth. Features like a built-in timer and 30-second quadrant pulses help kids develop proper brushing habits, making it a dentist-recommended choice for maintaining oral hygiene.

Do dentists recommend vibrating toothbrushes for kids?

Yes, dentists often recommend vibrating toothbrushes, like quip’s Kids Sonic Toothbrush, for children. The gentle vibrations provide an effective clean by helping to remove plaque and reach hard-to-clean areas, while being safe for young teeth and gums. Vibrating toothbrushes also make brushing more engaging for kids, encouraging proper oral hygiene habits from an early age. Features such as a smaller brush head, soft bristles, and a built-in timer ensure a child-friendly and dentist-recommended brushing experience.
